Intro Blog

Hey guys, it's Alyssa. I love being a high schooler. I enjoy everything about it. All the way from being able to have no care in the world, to simple things like getting to see your friends everyday. My favorite color is pink. Not just because it's a pretty color, but because it reminds me of so many beautiful things like my favorite flower, orchids. I grew up in Florida, even though I was born in New York. I was raised with so much of my Dominican culture around, which is probably why my favorite meal is a popular Dominican dish. That dish is called "los tres golpes". It includes mashed plantain, called mangĂș, fried Dominican style salami, cheese, and eggs. It's traditionally eaten as breakfast, but I love it at any time of the day. I absolutely love doing my makeup since I enjoy having freedom of expression, and I truly let loose whenever I do it. My favorite cartoon character is Hello Kitty. I love what she represents, and I grew up watching her show. Getting in touch with things I used to do and watch as a child makes me very happy, which is why I still love Hello Kitty so much to this day. I do my own nails, which is another one of my creative outlets alongside doing my own makeup. I adore listening to music and finding new artists to listen to everyday. Everything about music is amazing to me. Some things I don't particularly enjoy are the ocean, the humidity, and the heat which unfortunately is all around you when you live in Florida. The ocean is my biggest fear. What truly scares me about it is that there's no control over it, and what's in there. There's very little knowledge on the ocean and while I do think that that's amazing, it is quite frightening. The only oceans I'll go in are oceans where I'm able to see through the water. What I'm basically saying is that I love the beaches in Dominican Republic. My favorite beach is Punta Cana, where the waters are crystal clear and the sand is white. This brings me to schools in Dominican Republic. Seeing how terrible the education that some people in DR are receiving, I feel so incredibly lucky to be in the schooling situation that I'm in. All of this to say, I love the way I'm living, and there isn't much to complain about. Catch you later Lyssa Nation.
