Hey guys, it's Alyssa. My perfect song for my commercial is the instrumental of "Still Don't Know My Name" by the artist Labrinth. I'm using the instrumental version of the song, but just knowing the meaning of the song without the lyrics is perfect. Not only does it sound beautiful, but the lyrics are amazing as well. For example, the opening line of the song says "I don't belong in your universe." The way I interpret this lyric is having that feeling of isolation when you don't feel like you truly fit in. When I first listened to the song, I felt connected to it in a sense. The song helps highlight the idea of 'self discovery', which I feel is a perfect song to use for a teenage girl in high school. Growing up with so many eyes on you like your parents, kids in school, teachers, and society in general can be stressful, especially for a young developing mind. This song helped put things into perspective for me, and let me put a label on how I feel. Especially now with social media, it's very difficult to find your own identity. This song motivates me to be my true self, and to not give in to societal standards. It helps me remember to relish in how I'm unique, rather than similar to everyone else, and that's okay. I feel like ever since I gained a conscience, I've always worried about what everyone else thinks about me. I've slowly, but surely come to realize that it really doesn't matter what everyone else thinks of me, as long as I'm comfortable and happy with myself. There's too much pressure on me as it is, and thinking of other judging is just adding more. There's no need to stress yourself out more than you already are. Growing to learn this has made such a huge impact on my life. This song is what started my journey to finding my true self and that's why I'm using this song for my commercial.
